ESO Young Composers' Project
As part of my residency with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (2011-14), I ran the Young Composers' Project. Each year one or two local high school students are selected to write an original piece under the guidance of the composer-in-residence, the works typically premiered at Symphony under the Sky over the Labour Day weekend. Daniel Belland (2012) won the Canadian Music Centre's Prairie Region Emerging Composer Prize for Voyage which was subsequently featured at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's New Music Festival. The ESO programmed Taran Plamondon's Flight (2013) at its 2013 annual gala and again during the regular season in 2014/15.
Here is a video produced by ATB Financial featuring interviews with me and the two 2012 participants.
